We had to do some cabinetry remodeling when our first 24" KitchenAid Superba was purchased in 1999. I thought I was getting a top of the line appliance. After using the self-cleaning feature two times, the oven blew its fuse, locked down and the repairman declared that feature officially dead. For the next twelve years I manually cleaned that "self-cleaning" oven. The problem is not unique to me; it still persists in today's models--just google "KitchenAid self-cleaning problems." A class action lawsuit has even been filed against KitchenAid regarding this very topic.However, other than the self-cleaning issue, the oven has performed wonderfully (virtually problem-free) for about eleven years.
