We've recently remodeled our kitchen, changing the style from vintage 1950's, to a modern look of stainless steel and granite. The Akdy 30" range hood was our first installation after everything in the kitchen was gutted to bare walls. Installation is amazingly simple, although the instructions are barely intelligible. They appeared to have been translated by Babelfish from Chinese to English, so there are some severe mis-translations. This is a wall mount model, so the stainless 'chimney' will only cover three sides. One wall mount bracket with two protruding 'tongues' is screwed into the wall, and the range hood simply slips into the tongues. Run your vent hose and plug it in... That's it in plain English. How does it work? The vent works well, with three speeds. It's not the quietest range hood around, but it's noise level is acceptable. The LED's don't provide enough light to cook with, but they make for great mood lighting on our new bar! I give... My wife only cared about one thing... getting kitchen smells out of the house and away from her cloths! Took the chance and bought this bad boy. One word summs up my review of this product... WOW! It moves air like hurrican Katrina, plus for the money... it is not nearly as loud as expected. I have tested hoods in the thousands that was noisier than this bad boy. For the money of this hood you can't go wrong. On top of the good deal the ADKY folks happily and fastly replace a piece of stainless that was dinged in the mail. I will buy from this seller again! edit: The packaged instructions are not good... quite bad infact. However I found a nifty PDF on AKDY's webiste that showed in detail how to attach the vent cover stainless. So in summary, package instructions bad... Online instructions good. The previous oven still worked, but would beep repeatedly (and loudly!) at various times during the day. We'd trek to the basement to turn off the circuit breaker and then have to go back downstairs to turn on the breaker when we needed to use the oven. It was time to buy a new one... I researched wall ovens on the internet and found that most are small, really small. Since we often cook a 25 lb. turkey in our oven, we needed something much larger than what is usually offered. This LG oven did the trick and is huge inside. Look for a good price on this oven. When we purchased the oven the price was around $1700., but LG was offering a $700 rebate if we also bought a new microwave - which we needed, anyway. The $700 rebate helped lower the price considerably, so keep your eye out for LG special offers. Plus, we received our rebate check from LG in two weeks, which is pretty... It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the other ones on the market but it does make great toast evenly done on both sides. So if all you want is a great toaster at a low price then this is the one for you.
